If you’d like to change your Blue Cross NC Blue Medicare HMO Essential health insurance plan for 2018, you should do so this month so that your coverage can begin on January 1, 2018. If you do not choose a new plan, you will stay with your current plan. Let’s take a closer look at some of the changes to the Blue Cross NC Blue Medicare HMO Essential plan:

The monthly premium will change from $77.60 in 2017 to $56.80 in 2018. However, your monthly premium will increase if you have a higher income or are required to pay a lifetime Part D enrollment penalty. It will be less if you are receiving “Extra Help” with your prescription costs.

Maximum out-of-pocket expenses for 2018 will be $6,700, the same as they were this year. Once you have paid your $6,700 out-of-pocket for Part A and Part B services, you won’t be required to pay anything for covered services the rest of the year.
